include関数です。リストであるかのように添字を付けています。

例えば：

apples = [ 'Granny Smith', 'Russet' ]
red_apple = apples[1]    # <-- Subscripting a list

関数には添字を付けることができないため、投稿したエラーが発生します。ただし、コメント付きの例でわかるように、次の構文を使用して関数を呼び出す必要があります。()
