誰かがここで言ったように、単に

$test = $xml_variable->asXML();

xml全体が$test変数に格納されますが、問題は、エコーすると、ラベル自体ではなく、ラベル値のみが表示されることです。これが私がそれが機能していないと思った理由です。

とにかく、SQLテーブルのxmlフィールドを更新すると、適切にフォーマットされたxml文字列が入力されます。
