npm/nodeの最新リリースにjqueryをインストールできないようです。

Node.JSの最新リリースは、v0.8.8（安定）（リリースノート、ダウンロード）およびv0.9.0（不安定）です。

現在実行しているのは、リリースv0.9.1-preに向けて行われている作業からの開発ビルドです。v0.9.1

そして、それが問題です。

エラー：「以前の」バージョンのノードをインストールできません

インストールしようとしているモジュールは、開発ビルドでの実行をサポートしていません。したがって、それらを試すには、リリースバージョンを決定する必要があります。

Node.JSが使用するバージョン管理スキームをメモしておくこともできます。
