ニック、

therubyracer-heroku および therubyracer バージョン 0.8.1 は古いバージョンです。therubyracer の最新リリース、現在バージョン 0.11.3 の通常バージョンを使用してみてください。

gem install therubyracer

または、特定のバージョンに固執する必要があると感じた場合

gem install therubyracer -v 0.11.3
