「psql -U root -h localhost -p 5432 -W」を実行すると、どのパスワードを指定しても接続されません。「rake db:create:all」も失敗します

PostgreSQL をどのようにインストールしたのかわかりません。私の Mac では、通常、データベースのユーザー名が私のユーザー名であり、パスワードがないと予想されます。root のユーザー名とパスワードを設定してよろしいですか?
