テキストエリアには2つの名前があります。チェックしてください。

HTML 5以降のバージョンを使用している場合...入力タグで「必須」を使用すると、入力データが存在するかどうかが自動的に検証されます...

このような：

<input type="text" class="input" name="myname"  required>

電子メールの検証では、入力タイプをテキストではなく電子メールとして指定します

このような：

<input type="email" class="input" name="myemail" required >

さらにフォームを検証するには、ajax、jquery も試してください。
