$and 演算子は現在 MongoDB では利用できないようです。$and 演算子は 1.9.1 (不安定版) にあります。

現在 (1.8.x) 唯一の解決策は、次のような複数の「$or」ステートメントを使用しているようです。

even_value_1 AND odd_value_1
